01 / A MORE PERSONAL WAY TO FIND LOCAL ANSWERS

You don’t need the right keywords.
Just your own words.

Tell Kuulua what you’re trying to do. The vision is a useful local answer shaped around your needs, with the details that help you decide what comes next.

01

Say what’s on your mind.

A question, a goal, or a simple statement. Add your place, timing, and preferences when they matter.

02

Bring the local pieces together.

Relevant services, resources, and opportunities, with the provider and supporting information behind them.

03

See a useful next step.

Compare possibilities, follow a path, or find out how to take part. Know what’s supported and what still needs checking.

A GLIMPSE OF THE IDEAIllustrative
QUESTION ASKED

“I’m moving in Salem. Who can help with packing?”

A SERVICE THAT FITS

A little help with a big move.

A useful answer would bring together packing services, the local providers behind them, and the details you need before reaching out.

  • What the service includes
  • Where the provider works
  • How to ask about dates and pricing

Availability and quotes should be confirmed with the provider.

02 / A NAME WITH PURPOSE

Kuulua

From the Finnish verb kuulua.

“To belong” and “to be heard.”
Two meanings. One idea of community.

01

To belong.

Feel connected to the place you call home. Discover the people, services, and shared experiences that make a community yours.

02

To be heard.

Have your needs understood in your own words. And if you serve your community, help people understand what you offer.

A community grows stronger when people can find each other.

03 / FOR THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE LOCAL HAPPEN

You have something to offer.
Help it be understood.

Local businesses, independent providers, nonprofits, and event organizers all have a place in the Kuulua vision. Your story starts with the useful things you do for people.

Make your services clear.

Describe what you help people do, who it’s for, and where you work. Give an answer to someone’s need, beyond a business name.

Give events a place to be found.

Share what’s happening, when and where, and how people can join. Turn an announcement into an invitation.

Help AI understand your offering.

The aim is to organize clear, sourced local information so AI can connect a person’s request with relevant services and events.

Clear information creates better connections.

Kuulua is being developed to help local offerings be understood by AI. Appearance in third-party AI answers isn’t guaranteed.

04 / GROUNDED IN LOCAL REALITY

Useful answers
need solid roots.

Show where the information comes from.

Source-backed details help people understand why an option fits.

Make the unknowns clear.

A service offered isn’t the same as availability confirmed. A social profile isn’t proof of an upcoming event.

Keep room for a correction.

Local life changes. The approach includes reviewing information and carrying corrections through the answers that rely on it.

A few things you may be wondering.

Is Kuulua ready to use?

There’s an early working preview with a small researched collection of Salem-area services. It uses word matching and response templates today. Connected AI, public listing submissions, live availability, and verified event discovery are still in development.

How is this different from a directory?

The need comes first. Instead of starting with categories or a list of businesses, you describe what you want to do. The intended response brings relevant offerings and useful details together around that request.

Can I promote my business or event?

Helping local services and events be discovered is central to the concept. Public submissions aren’t open yet. The “What to share” guide above explains the information a useful listing will need; no payment, submission, or promotion service is offered on this page.

Does Kuulua cover my community?

The current service preview starts with Salem, Oregon and nearby. Kuulua is being designed for discovery tailored to individual communities, but broader coverage hasn’t launched.
